PRESS RELEASE
The filmfestival Cinémas d’Europe Sans Frontières (European Cinemas without Borders) planned for November 2021 will take place from March 25 to April 3, 2022. The first edition of this festival will be divided in four sections :
– A competition section named “Cinémas d’Europe Sans Frontières“ which includes European fiction movies, like works from European productions and co-productions or directed by European filmmakers or filmmakers resident in Europe. This section is open to all films from the « great » Europe, i.e. the 47 countries’ members of the Council of Europe.
– A “Carte Blanche“ section for European film libraries. This year, the Berlin film library was chosen.
– A “tribute / retrospective” section to a European film personality (director, actress, producer, etc.).
– A section “Europe through the mirror of its cinemas”.
This festival will have a european and a cross-border dimension. European by its horizon and by the participation of several European cinemas, in particular for the projection of the three prize-winning films. Cross-border by the co-construction of this festival with the cinemas of Kehl (Kino-Center), Offenburg (FORUM) and Sarrebrück (Achteinhalb). In Strasbourg, the festival will take place at the VOX Cinema, the UGC Ciné-Cité and the Odyssée.

COMMUNIQUÉ
Le Festival Cinémas d’Europe Sans Frontières initialement prévu en novembre 2021, se déroulera du 25 mars au 3 avril 2022. La première édition de ce festival sera composée de quatre volets :
– Une section “Compétition” proposera 14 à 15 films européens (pays membres du Conseil de l’Europe) qui concourront pour obtenir :
- Le « Prix Europe Sans Frontières » (10 000 euros)
- Le « Prix européen des droits humains » (10 000 euros)
- Le Prix spécial du Jury (5000 euros)
Le Jury international sera composé de 7 personnes maximum.
– Une section “Carte Blanche à la Cinémathèque de Berlin“.
– Une section “Rétrospective/Hommage à un réalisateur européen“.
– Une section “L’Europe au miroir de ses cinémas“.
Ce festival sera à la fois européen et transfrontalier. Européen par son horizon et par la participation de plusieurs salles européennes, notamment pour ce qui concerne la projection des trois films primés. Transfrontalier par la co-construction de ce festival avec les salles de cinéma de Kehl (Kino-Center), d’Offenburg (FORUM) et de Sarrebrück (Achteinhalb). A Strasbourg, le festival se déroulera au Cinéma VOX, à l’UGC Ciné-Cité et à l’Odyssée.
